The Lions Clubs in the midlands have joined forces with the farming community, supportive organisations and many individuals in a fundraising project named ‘Hooves 4 Hospice’ in order to raise a sizeable sum of money for the much-needed Hospice Building Fund.
One of the ways we are raising money for this project is by selling our 2022 calendar with all of the proceeds going to directly to the building fund. Each year we run a photography competition, in conjunction with The Irish Hereford Breed Society, full details can be seen here, and each winning category photo, along with all of the finalists appear in our calendar, such an important cause and a lovely way for our winners to be showcased across the year. You can purchase your calendar here.
Since the launch of the charity project in January 2020, Irish Hereford Prime are proud to be giving a helping hand. Hooves 4 Hospice is working diligently to help fund the level 3 hospice for the midlands area. Laois, Offaly, Longford and Westmeath are currently the only counties that do not benefit from palliative care from a dedicated hospice. The building of a hospice for the local community would be an invaluable asset, and an immeasurable comfort for the friends, families, and indeed for those availing of its services.
We at Irish Hereford Prime have been amazed and touched by the outpouring of warmth from our members, for which we are so thankful. Their dedication and generosity have been truly inspiring, and we look forward to seeing this community hospice standing strong.
The ‘Hooves 4 Hospice’ project involves recruiting a large number of farmers from across the midlands willing to rear an animal. The animals are sold after 12 to 24 months and the entire proceeds of the sale will be donated to help fund the building of the hospice. Members can participate in a number of ways:
- Donating a calf (or calves)
- Rearing a calf
- Donating AND rearing a calf/calves
- Or simply by donating directly to the charity (details below)
